Bernita J. Pfeifer

Bernita Jo Pfeifer, age 81, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 12, 2017. She was born July 4, 1936 in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late Charles Nance and Margaret H. Lytle. She was a graduate of Hamilton Twp. High School. Bernita was a member of Gahanna Free Will Baptist Church. She retired from the Defense Supply Center as a Contract Specialist. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed life, family, friends, traveling and gardening. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Leonard F. Pfeifer. Survivors include her three daughters, Robbin (Joe) Garrison, Dawn Pfeifer and Michele (Thomas) Hollis; sister, Norma Martina; grandchildren, Jason, Sara, Matthew, Adam, and Kyle; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Ed Sigman; numerous dear friends; and furry companion, Baxter. A special thank you to Capital City Hospice and the Inn at Winchester Trail for their compassionate care and support.

Family and friends may visit 5-8:00pm on Wednesday, October 18, at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 650 W. Waterloo St. Canal Winchester, OH 43110. A funeral service officiated by Pastor Curtis Booth will begin at 10:00am on Thursday, October 19, at Gahanna Free Will Baptist Church, 3868 N. Stygler Rd, Columbus, OH 43230.Interment at Glen Rest Memorial Estate. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to The Alzheimer’s Association, 1379 Dublin Rd, Columbus, OH 43215.
