Ella Gene Sedwick

Ella Gene Sedwick, the precious soul of Ella Gene Sedwick, 97, arrived in Heaven on April 23, 2017. Gene was born to Hart and Ethelle Strode on Oct. 28, 1919. In addition to her parents and siblings, Gene is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Riley Neil Sedwick and dear friends Marion and Ruth Gray. Gene is survived her children, Jerry (Kathy) Sedwick of Groveport and Kay (Tom) Knode of Carroll; grandchildren, Jared (Kristi) Knode, Troy Knode, Kara (Chad) Doran, and Amanda (Justin) Barr. She adored her great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Mitchel and Mason Knode, Jake and Audrey Barr, and Ella Jean Doran. Through the years the family appreciated the special friendship of Marion and Ruth Gray and their daughters, Linda (John) Neth and Peggy (Dave) Fenstermaker and their families. “Mrs. Sedwick” taught many first graders at Edwards Elementary-Groveport Schools. Gene worshiped at Madison Christian Church as one of its charter members. Gene cherished her many friends, students, church family and all the “Bixby Road Gang”. Her happiest moments were spent with family and friends. She loved “hoeing and mowing” in the yard and watching the world from her side porch. We all were so blessed by this precious soul that fulfilled the will of God on this Earth by following Galatians 6:2 “Bear one another’s burdens, and thus fulfill the Law of Christ.” Family and friends may visit 4-7:00pm on Friday, April 28, at Madison Christian Church, 3565 Bixby Rd., Groveport, OH 43125 with a funeral service officiated by Pastor Paul Barnes to follow at 7:00pm. Interment at Pennsville Cemetery, Pennsville, OH. Donations may be made to Madison Christian Church/School or Heartland Hospice Memorial Fund, 6500 Bush Blvd, Columbus, OH 43229.
