James Oliver Shilling

James O. Shilling, age 82, of Pickerington, died Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Mount Carmel East Hospital in the presence of his family. He was born November 23, 1934 in Macksburg, OH to the late Nolon and Irene Shilling.
James was an employee of Columbia Gas, where he retired from. He was a member of Ralph R. Rickly Lodge #670 F & AM, Columbus, OH. James was an avid reader; interested in the different wars throughout history. He was a Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeye fan. James enjoyed the outdoors and time spent working in his yard. He looked forward to time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his sisters, Grace Darrah, and Ruth Taylor. James is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Kathleen “Katie” Shilling; daughter, Debbie (Jeff) Pierce; grandchildren, Adam (Cheri) Pierce, Ashley Pierce; great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Justin, Jaxon; sister, Louise Poe; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family and friends may visit 5-8:00 pm on Sunday, March 26 at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 550 Hill Rd. N., Pickerington, OH 43147 where a funeral service will take place at 11:00 am on Monday, March 27. Interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
