Janet M. Grundey

Janet M. Grundey, age 81, of Canal Winchester, died Wednesday, April 17, 2024. Born March 6, 1943 in Columbus to the late Ralph Anthony and Mary Margaret (Harner) Wiest. She was a graduate of Holy Rosary Catholic High School in Columbus and the St. Anthony School of Nursing. She spent her early nursing career at St. Anthony Hospital and later spent 27 years caring for patients at Rockmill Nursing and Rehab Center in Lancaster. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Pickerington, where over the years she participated in teaching catechism classes and making sleeping bags for the homeless with the Comfort Crew.
Janet brought joy to all those who knew her. If a party needed to be organized, Janet was on it! She loved cooking and baking, camping with family, and spending time tending to flowers and gardening. Janet will be remembered for her nurturing way of making everyone feel loved and welcome. She will be deeply missed and forever loved by her family.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Charles Grundey, who she married on October 17, 1964; sons, Kenneth (Shawn) Grundey, Iowa, Matthew (Regan) Grundey, Pickerington, Jason (Jennie) Grundey, Wapakoneta; grandchildren, Kati (Jordan) Krueger, Shayna (Rob) Bauer, Kasey Grundey, Jake Grundey, Kevin (Stefanie) Grundey, Brittany Grundey, Kirstin Grundey, Luke Kline, Matthew Kline, and Jack Grundey; great-grandchildren, Hollis and Zara; brother, Daniel (Janie) Wiest; sisters, Barbara (Lou) Gentile and Mary Ann Seymour; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Nathan Grundey; granddaughter, Kyleigh Grundey; brother, Michael Wiest; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Joyce Wiest; and brother-in-law, Jack Seymour.
Friends may visit 4-7 pm Tuesday, April 23 at the Dwayne R. Spence Funeral Home, 550 Hill Rd N (St. Rt. #256), Pickerington, where a Vigil Service will be held at 6:45 pm. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am Wednesday, April 24 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 600 Hill Rd N, Pickerington, with Fr. Leo Connolly, Celebrant. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery.
