Mollie J. Shaeffer
September 16, 1935 ~ March 13, 2024 (age 88) 88 Years Old
Mollie J. Shaeffer, age 88, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, March 13, 2024. Born September 16, 1935 in Obetz to the late Ernest and Martha (Manring) Heiny. She was a 1953 graduate of Hamilton Twp. High School, and was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Obetz. She married the love of her life, James R. Shaeffer on July 3, 1953 and together they had three children they raised in Columbus, Ohio their entire life. Mollie was a stay-at-home mom when her children were young, a cook at Groveport Schools for over 10 years, and retired from Nationwide Insurance after 18 years of service. Mollie was kind and loving with everyone she came in contact with, and always provided comfort, hope, and encouragement. She was an amazing daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Heiny of Washington Court House; grandson, Ryan Shaeffer; and great-granddaughter, Jade Leader. She is survived by her children, James (Cindie) Shaeffer, Mt. Perry, Jeff (Allison) Shaeffer, Pickerington, and Dawn (Todd) Holt, London; grandchildren, Stephanie (Brandon) Gobble, Clinton Young, Jordan (Carissa) Johnston, Audria (Brett) Leader, Kyle (Brittany) Shaeffer, MacKenzie (Ryan) Mitchell, and Molly (Tyler) Blinn; great-grandchildren, Ruby Johnston, Vada Johnston, Lowen Johnston, Peyton Phillis, Melody Young, Cora Leader, and Gabrielle Leader; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends. Friends may visit 6-8 pm Monday, March 18 at the Dwayne R. Spence Funeral Home, 650 W. Waterloo St., Canal Winchester, and from 10-11 am Tuesday, March 19 at the Zion Lutheran Church, 1080 Obetz Rd, Columbus, OH 43207. Funeral service will follow at 11 am with Pastor Matthew Cox officiating. Interment after at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mollie’s memory to Zion Lutheran Church or the Alzheimers Association (www.alz.org).
