Richard E. “Dick” Shaffer, age 91, of Pickerington, died Wednesday, October 04, 2017 at Pickering House in Lancaster. Born March 22, 1926 in Meadville, PA to the late Edwin E. and Olive L. (Vironet) Shaffer, he served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was retired from DCSC in Columbus, and had worked for the Columbus Dispatch in carrier delivery. He was a member of Baltimore VFW.
Survived by his wife, Cora Greenlee Shaffer; daughters, Deborah A. Shaffer, Cindy (Tim Carte) Losey, and Elizabeth J. “Beth” Oliver, all of Pickerington; grandchildren, Kevin Englehart, Jeff (Lisa) Carte, Joshua M. Oliver, Jessica R. Oliver, and Ryan Losey; great-grandchildren, Vann, Cabot, and Sailor; nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his first wife, Jane Shaffer in 1996; brother, Robert Shaffer; and sister, Jeanne Ganster.
Friends may visit 4-8 pm Sunday at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 550 Hill Road N. (St. Rt. #256), Pickerington, where funeral service will be held 11 am Monday. Interment with military honors at Violet Cemetery.
