Terry Lee Jeffers, age 70, of Pleasantville, died unexpectedly Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Born November 3, 1946 in Columbus. He was loved by many. His style of humor was unique, often telling jokes that were “groaners.” He could make you laugh at even the worst of jokes. He developed his own style of word play that became known as “Terryisms.”
He was athletic as a child and through adulthood despite battling polio at a young age. He knew he had polio, but he never let it slow him, from playing soccer, football, and baseball with his boys to the long hikes through Hocking Hills and Vinton County. He was a city boy who was more at home in the country. He was a licensed optician and former owner of Pro-Care Vision Center in Lancaster. It was his old-school ways of being an optician that endeared him to so many of his clients and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sherry Jeffers; sons, Terry Lee (Amy) Jeffers II, Reynoldsburg; Heath (Kim) Monesmith, Solon; Tyson (Angela) Jeffers, Jason (Beth) Monesmith, both of Canal Winchester; grandchildren, Alexa & Logan Jeffers, Cameron & Morgan Monesmith, Keaton & Kennedy Jeffers, Paige & Ian Monesmith; special family, Kay & Jay Helms and their daughters Alex (Hadley) and Frankie; sister, Jerry (John) Reimenschneider; brother, Bill (Martha) Jeffers; nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his mother, Pat Cooper (Frazell); his brother, John Jenkins; and niece, Teri Lea Chafin.
