William Dean Johnston

William “Bill” Dean Johnston, 92, of Columbus, died on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Winchester Place Nursing and Rehab. Born on October 8, 1924 in Logan to the late Clinton and Ethel Johnston, Bill was a graduate of Bremen High School. He was a lifelong member of Asbury South United Methodist Church. Bill will be remembered as a caring, loving, and ornery individual with a good sense of humor. He was very personable and could get along with anyone. Bill was a loving husband, caring grandfather, and good neighbor. He is survived by his sons, Gordon Johnston and Scott (Lynn) Johnston; grandchildren, Amy (Dan) Robinson, Eric Johnston, Lisa (Brian) Welsh, and Stephanie (Tom) Crawford; and his great-granchildren, Caleb, Sam, Lydia, Abby, Solomon, Amira, Willow and Levi. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel; daughter-in-law, Valerie Johnston; and siblings, Mabel Hannah, Fern Kinzel, and Carl Johnston. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Asbury South United Methodist Church, 4760 Winchester Pike, Columbus, OH 43232, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service.
