Anthony Gerard Foley, age 69, died peacefully Sunday, September 18, 2022 in the comfort of his own home surrounded by his loving family. Gary fought a long hard battle with numerous health hurdles, always being a constant example for us on how to maintain perseverance in the face of adversity. He was born June 8, 1953 to the late John J. Foley and late Rita (Trott) Foley in Columbus. He was a 1971 graduate of Wehrle High School. Gary had a highly respected and successful career in the food service industry with Continental Food Service, Restaurant Food Service and Gordon Food Service. Gary was an avid golfer, had an affinity for painting and art, was a terrible card player and most importantly adored spending time with his family and friends. He was a man of faith and lived his life by the mantra “Treat others the way you want to be treated”. Always a true gentlemen who will be remembered for his smile and unwavering kindness to everyone that crossed his path.

Affectionately known as Garebear, Garebo, Little Gary, Uncle G, and Gary, he was an incredible Husband, Father, Grandfather, Uncle, Brother, and Friend. Gary is survived by his wife, soulmate and best friend of 46 years, Chris (Deibel); sons Todd (Tiffany) and Patrick (Angie); grandchildren Tanner, Tyler, Skylar and Sierra; siblings Jack (Carolyn) Foley, Sharon Buccilla; Tom (Pam) Foley; Sister-in-law Jackie Starkey; Brother-in-law John Cruse; numerous nieces, nephews, beloved friends and family. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sisters Rosemary (J. I.) and Peggy, brother Tim (Sylvia) and brother Terry; brother-in-law Gary Buccilla; sister-in-law Judy, and nephew Mike.

Family will be receiving cherished guests on Thursday, September 22 from 4pm – 8pm at the Dwayne R Spence Funeral Home 550 Hill Rd N (SR 256), Pickerington. A Vigil service will be held at 7:45 pm. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am Friday, September 23 at Christ the King Church 2777 E Livingston Ave, Columbus 43209, with Fr. David Schalk, celebrant. Procession to St. Joseph Cemetery for final internment immediately following mass. Gary was a passionate advocate of organ and tissue donation, and he would encourage you to pay it forward with the selfless gift of being a donor in the hopes of answering someone else’s need.
