Arthur “Art” Swartz, age 99, of Canal Winchester, Oh passed away at home surrounded by family Sunday, May 29, 2022. He was born November 28, 1922 in Somerset County, PA to the late Arthur J.P. and Emma (Zimmerman) Swartz. He proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II on USS Bunker Hill Aircraft Carrier. He was a man of faith and attended the Peace Lutheran Church. He was involved in organizations including, VFW Post 10523 Canal Winchester and American Legion H. Benson Post 220, Canal Winchester. He enjoyed watching old western movies and shows, meeting at McDonalds with his buddies and sitting on his porch admiring what God created, most of all he loved being a grandpa.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Doris (Smith) Swartz; son, Matthew Swartz; and 7 siblings.
He is survived by his children, Rebecca (Harold) Rarey, Darrell (Elizabeth) Swartz, Laraine Konkler, and Arthur Swartz; 12 grandchildren; 27 great- grandchildren; sister-in-law, Norma (Duane) Root; and numerous nieces, nephews and other loved ones.
A visitation will be held Sunday, June 5, from 2-5PM at DWAYNE R SPENCE FUNERAL HOME 650 W Waterloo St. Canal Winchester, OH 43110. A funeral service will be held the following day Monday, June 6, at the funeral home at 11AM with a 1 hour prior visitation. A burial will follow at Union Grove Cemetery.
