Barbara Z. Krenelka, age 91, of Pickerington, died Sunday, August 4, 2019 at her residence. Born December 30, 1927 in Portsmouth to the late Frederick T. and Berta L. (Burchett) Payton, she was a 1946 graduate of Portsmouth East High School and attended Franklin University. She was a former employee of Williams Shoe Factory and Joyce Shoe Factory, was a phone operator at Ohio Bell, and was the secretary at Violet Baptist Church for 25 years. She was an avid bowler with WIBC.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Krenelka, in 2009; and brothers, James, Frederick, and Ralph Payton.
Barb is survived by daughters, Billie (James) Rice, Carroll, Kathy (“Dee”) Mays, Lebanon, Penny (William) Kasdorf, Hot Springs Village, AR, Cindy (Jerry) Righter, Tarpon Springs, FL; step-children, Todd (Becci) Krenelka, Hilliard, Kelly (Steve) Humrichouse, Baltimore; grandchildren, Stephen (Ann) Mays, Adam (Sarah) Mays, James (Eboni) Rice, Andrew (Megan) Rice, Hayley (Hans) Walch, Lauren Righter, Kate (Bryce) Hammerberg, Tom Krenelka; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Lunata Griffith, Cape Coral, FL; nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit 3-7 pm Wednesday at the Dwayne R. Spence Funeral Home, 550 Hill Road N. (St. Rt. 256), Pickerington. Funeral service will be 10:30 am Thursday at Violet Baptist Church, 8345 Blacklick Eastern Rd., Pickerington, with Pastor Rick Williams officiating. Interment Glen Rest Memorial Estate.
