Bernice L. Hempleman, of Carroll, 90 years young, peacefully passed from this life to a new eternal life Friday, June 9, 2017. She is now reunited with her husband, Bob in heaven. Mom was born in the Lithopolis area, April 6, 1927 to the late Melvin and Alverta Smith.
She married our Dad, the late Marvin “Bob” Hempleman on June 25, 1947. They spent 45 loving years together. Mom was a devoted member of Salem United Methodist Church and served many years as a trustee and treasurer of Betzer Cemetery.
She is survived by son, Tom of Carroll, and daughter Janice (Mark) Allman of Walpole, Massachusetts; granddaughter, Jenna Allman; brothers, Richard (Susan) Smith of Pickerington, and William Smith of Florida; and nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mom was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Chase; and brother, Robert Smith.
At Mom’s request, no visitation hours will be observed. A graveside service, officiated by Rev. Jim Green, will take place at 11:00 am on Wednesday at Betzer Cemetery, 4025 Pickerington Rd., Carroll, OH 43112. Arrangements by Dwayne R. Spence Funeral Home, Canal Winchester.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mom’s name can be made to Meals on Wheels of Fairfield County, 253 Boving Rd., Lancaster, OH 43130 or to Pickering House Hospice, 282 Sells Rd., Lancaster, OH 43130.
