Betty J. (Brandenburg) Nonnemacher, age 89, of Pickerington, passed away Saturday, September 22, 2018. She was born in Booneville, KY in 1929 to the late Thomas and Ethel (Wilson) Brandenburg. She attended Georgetown College and Eastern Kentucky University. She spent many years following along with her husband in his teaching and coaching career at Montpelier, Jackson, Bexley and Hilliard. She worked for the Department of Defense and the Ohio National Guard where she retired after 29 years, a job that she loved. She enjoyed attending auctions, was an avid reader and book club member. A passionate Ohio State Buckeyes and Cincinnati Reds fan, she never wanted to miss watching a game. She was known to be a great cook, loved feeding the birds and was a member of the Red Hat Society and Peace United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by her college sweetheart and husband of 60 years Clarence “Pete” Nonnemacher; daughter, Stephanie (Nonnemacher) Meyer; and sister, Wilma “Jane” (Brandenburg) Arnett. She is survived by son-in-law, Robert "Lance" Meyer and grandchildren, Branden Meyer of Pickerington and Heidi Meyer (William) Ehling of Lebanon; great granddaughters, Lannie, Sophie and Kemper Ehling; brother-in-law, Eugene Arnett of Greenville, TN; nephew, Michael (Jackie) Arnett of N. Augusta, SC and niece, Cathy Arnett (Gary) Turnipseed of Xenia; and wonderful family and friends. Friends may visit 4-7 pm Thursday at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 550 Hill Rd. North (St. Rt. #256), Pickerington. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home 10 am Friday with the Rev. Bill Lyle officiating. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Peace United Methodist Church, 235 Diley Rd., Pickerington 43147 or to Capital City Hospice, 2800 Corporate Exchange Dr. #170, Columbus 43231 in her memory.
