Charles E. Blackburn

Charles E. Blackburn, age 85, of Columbus, passed away Sunday, January 2, 2022 at his residence. Born on February 12, 1936 in Martin County, KY to Annie and Troy Blackburn.

He loved his chihuahua Bubba, the Cincinnati Reds, and sitting on the front porch with his best friend Roy. He never passed up a chance to joke with everyone he met. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army and is loved dearly by his family.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ernestine Blackburn; children, Rick Blackburn, Scott Blackburn (Teri), Tonya Browning (Noah); grandchildren, Eric Blackburn, Kyle (Tara) Blackburn, Holly (Kelvin) Cyrus, Hunter Blackburn, Chase Blackburn, Mallory Browning, Hartley Browning, and Fletcher Browning; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Kyleigh, Kennedy, Gavin, and Mason; brother, Troy Jr. Blackburn; and sister-in-law, Nadine Slone.

Preceded in death by his parents, Annie and Troy Blackburn; his sister, Hazel Hammond; and brothers, Billy and Carmel Blackburn.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Charles’ name to The Wounded Warrior Project. A memorial service will be held at a later and safer time.
