David Ralph Van Horne

On June 7, 2022,  David Van Horne went to walk with the Lord after growing wearisome and bored of the 8 year battle of kicking ALS’ ass day in and day out after being diagnosed on January 11, 2014. David was born on January 24, 1965 in Columbus, Ohio.  He was a truck driver by profession but a race car driver by passion. His second home was at the National Trail Raceway where he would run the ¼ mile in the Super Street 10.90. His racing accolades include multiple Class Champions, Track Champions, and many other racing awards and achievements. When David wasn’t in the seat of the car, he could be found under its hood.  He was a gifted mechanic who could diagnose and remedy any vehicle problem. He generously shared his talents with his friends, neighbors, and strangers by repairing their vehicles when needed. David was also a Buckeye football fan through-and-through cheering his Bucks on to victories and a 2015 College Football Playoff National Championship.
David was preceded in death by his father, Paul A. Van Horne; his brothers, Paul A. Van Horne Jr., Chuck Van Horne, Kenneth Lee Van Horne; and his step-father, Jack Sheline.
David is survived by his wife, Jennifer Van Horne; his mother, Doris Sheline; his children, Joshua (and Meghan) Van Horne, Larry Oliver, Sean Thompson, and Rhiannon Oliver. David was blessed with many grandchildren which include Alexa, Deuce, Colby, Koen, Kiona, Roman and Graiison, and Brodix.  David has one surviving brother, Bill (and Pebs) Van Horne.
Friends and family may call from 2-4 &6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 16, 2022 at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 650 W. Waterloo St., Canal Winchester, OH. The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 17, 2022 at the funeral home with Chaplin John Ruiz officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Rest Cemetery.
