Diane “Dede” Nieman Swary, of Pickerington, 64, passed away Wednesday, March 31, at The Selma Markowitz Hospice Unit at Licking Memorial Hospital of an undiagnosed illness. She was born on July 18, 1956, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Robert L. and Joan E. Nieman. Diane graduated from Bishop Hartley High school in 1974 and earned a Bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University in 1979. She married Steven Swary May 23, 1980 at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Diane was employed by Pickerington Local Schools Food Service department for 26 years. She also worked part time for the YMCA latchkey program. She was very involved with Better Way Ministries and also volunteered endlessly for her daughters’ school functions. Dede was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who would do anything for her family. Preceded by her father, Robert L. Nieman and her mother, Joan E. (Huckin) Nieman. She is survived by her loving husband, Steven Swary of Pickerington; daughters, Jessica Maurer (Trevor) of Bellefontaine and Jennifer Craycraft (Adam) of Pickerington; siblings, Ken Nieman (Sheilah), Nancy Matthies (Doug), and David Nieman (Cheryl); grandchildren, Hudson, Aurelia and Adler Maurer and Wesley, Brantley and Ellie Craycraft; and other relatives. Family and friends may visit 3-5:00pm on Tuesday, April 6, at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 550 Hill Rd. N. Pickerington, OH 43147 with a funeral service to follow at 5:00pm.
