Doug Baker Bennett

Douglas B. Bennett, age 82, passed away in Lancaster, OH on February 7, 2020 surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was born July 3, 1937 in Columbus, OH to Clement P. and Mildred (Baker) Bennett. Doug was part owner of Bennett Accounting Services. He also worked as an Automotive Detailer for Ricart and Lindsey Acura. In his leisure time, Doug had a love for the water and boating. He taught water safety and was a lifeguard. As a family, the Bennett’s enjoyed camping with the skills Doug learned in the Boy Scouts. Doug enjoyed teaching children with his involvement in youth basketball and Sunday school. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force.
Doug is survived by his wife, Sharon (Cline) Bennett; children, Douglas “Skip” (Lisa) Bennett, Christine J. (John) Houde, Jacqueline A. (Devon Kendall) Bennett, Jennifer L. Bennett, Allison M. (Larry) Shrontz-McClaskey; 17 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Linda Dreyfus; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents; sister, Nancy Shaffernocker; son-in-law, Jason Shrontz; in-laws, Dean and Thelma Cline; brother-in-laws Ron Dreyfus, Larry Cline and Wayne Shaffernocker.
Friends and family may call from 4-7-p.m. on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 650 W. Waterloo St., Canal Winchester, OH. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 14, 2020 at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in Franklin Hills Memory Gardens.
