I am so sorry to hear this about Ed. We were childhood friends and played freshman football at Groveport before I moved to Pickerington. My sympathies to his family. I am sure he will be missed terribly. RIP my old friend.

To the Bland Family,
I was saddened to hear about Ed's passing. I worked with Ed just over a year at Verizon and he always seemed to have a story to tell with a smile on his face. The Bland family will be in our prayers.

I wanted to express my heartfelt condolences to all of Ed's family. There's such a sense of helplessness when someone we love dies. I'd like to share some scriptural thoughts that really helps me. Prayer is so valuable at this time but it's not that prayer simply makes us feel better. 2 Cor.4:7 says that God can give us, "... power beyond what is normal ", to go from one day to the next. This does not mean that we no longer cry or that we forget, but it means we recover. The reason we recover is because of our hope. Jesus Christ talked about our hope in John 5:28, "... all those in the memorial tomb will hear his voice and come out ". Jesus was referring to the resurrection, this is our amazing hope that helps us recover and gives us power to go on. 2 Cor.1:3 describes our Creator as, "... the God of all comfort ". One way that God comforts us is by moving people who care about us to give us words of encouragement that we need to hear. May the God of comfort (Ps.83:18) be your comfort now during this time of sorrow.

Dear Bland Family,

I had the pleasure of working with Ed at Verizon Wireless. Ed was a great mentor to me while starting my role as a recruiter. I will cherish the memories I have of our golf conversations and when we had the chance to visit at company meetings. From my family to yours we send our thoughts and prayers in this time of need.

Bland Family....my deepest condolences for your loss. Ed and I were on the same team at Verizon although I work out of our Illinois office. I enjoyed meeting and talking with him anytime we had a team event or training session. Always available if I had a question for him. He was so proud to be a grandpa and when he told me first I couldn't believe as he looked too young! He always made a point of asking how my family was and just an overall great guy. And from comments that my co-workers here in Schaumburg said once the news came out, all of them said 'what a good guy.' He will be deeply missed.
