Tribute

Edwin (Eddie) T. Leibbrand, age 99, grew his wings when his bell rang on March 14, 2023. He would tell people that he too had a wonderful life.

Eddie was a hero, as he spent two years as a Private First Class in the US Army. He received an honorable discharge as a POW in WWII after serving in the Battle of the Bulge. He went on to work for Metal Forge Company in Columbus, Ohio. He married the love of his life in 1983, and joined a family that loved him dearly. He loved to garden, fish, birdwatch, and share his war stories. In his retirement, he spent many hours volunteering at Motts Military Museum, numerous veteran organizations, including speaking to school children and active service members about his experiences during WWII.

He is survived by his stepdaughter, Paula (Ed) Brown; grandchildren, Jessi (Adam) Dean, Carrie (Betty) Brown, and Jason (Sheri) England; and great-grandchildren, Harper Dean, Beatrice England, and Theodore England.

Eddie was preceded in death by his wife, Jane; parents, Theodore and Fannie Leibbrand; stepdaughter, Martha England; brother, Theodore; and sisters, Mildred, Jeannine, and Nancyann.
