Felix “Cat” Augustus Palombo, age 95, of Canal Winchester, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Tuesday, June 14, 2022. Felix was a first generation Italian born on February 4, 1927 in Youngstown, Ohio to the late Pasqualino Palombo and Margherita (Santillo) Palombo. Felix was preceded in death by his siblings Louis, Rachel (Palombo) Magyar, Christine “Tootsie”(Palombo) Guerrieri, Alex “Weasel” and survived by his sister Marguerite (Palombo) Greco. Felix served in WWII as a certified radio control operator for the United States Coast Guard. After his service he attended The Ohio State University earning a degree in Industrial Engineering and was a member of the Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity. Felix began his career working for North American Aviation/Rockwell International setting up space station operations traveling to California, Bahamas, Florida, Texas and the Azores. After his retirement from Rockwell International, Felix continued with his passion for engineering and worked with The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction. Felix was a ‘huge’ Buckeye Fan and worked with Lithopolis Troop 241 Boy Scouts to organize their participation with the Ohio State University Football Usher Program. After his retirement, Felix and Joan enjoyed spending their winters at their second home in Titusville, Florida with all their “snowbird” friends. Felix was an avid golfer until his passing at age 95 and enjoyed playing golf year round. Felix was a member of St. John XXIII Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Joan “Vix” (Alspach) Palombo; children, Susan (Greg), John (Diane), Joe, Patricia (Gary), and Mike (Julee). Grandchildren, Taylor, Cody (fiancee Samantha), Chad, Sara, Chase, Joce, Trent, Dominic, Zach (Carmel), Nic (fiancee Catherine), Jake, Sammi and Great Grandchild, Adrian Felix Bartlett. The family will be having a private memorial service for Felix on his beloved property. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. John XXIII Catholic Church, 5170 Winchester Southern Rd, Canal Winchester, OH 43110 or the American Legion Post 677, 11410 Smith Road, Lithopolis, Ohio 43136 in Felix’s name would be appreciated.
