Florence Sampson Mbenga

November 17, 1965 ~ April 29, 2022 (age 56) 56 Years Old

Tribute

Ma Florence Mbenga Sampson, was born on the 17th of November 1963 to Mbeu Nkweyo Sampson Patrick and Philomena Tchakam Sampson both of blessed memory. Her father was a polygamist and her mother was the first of two wives. She was the fourth child of her mother who had seven children.
Her educational career began in Catholic School Buea Station and proceeded to Yaoundé to live with her uncle late Pa Nana Ignatius where she completed her primary education. She was later on called back to Buea by her parents when she started doing Business like frying puff-puff. In the mid 1980’s she enrolled into IVTC Buea where she graduated as a trained secretary. She was then recruited to join the Ministry of Public Health. She worked at the then Provincial delegation of Public Health Southwest. She was transferred to the then District Hospital now Regional Hospital Buea, where she worked until her retirement in 2015. She was an entrepreneur in every sense of the word, running multiple businesses while still keeping her day job.
She initialy traveled to the U.S in 2009 from her home country Cameroon. She since then traveled back and forth between both countries. She was an important part of her grandchildren’s lives as she helped raised them until 2019 when because of failing health was not as strong to do so anymore.
She loved life and loved people. She was a defender of the weak and a foster mother to many. She was a trail blazer with a go-getter spirit who always got what she wanted once she set her mind to it. More than these, she was sociable, dependable, kindhearted and compassionate. She was a problem-solver and would do anything for the ones she loved.
She was a bonafide Christian of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon and a member of Zion choir and CWF. She also belonged to many social groups. Here lies a woman who was courageous, straight forward and stood for the truth, a straight disciplinarian who did not compromise her principles.
Her death took us off-guard because she was always known as a strong woman who could survive anything. She won her battle with cancer when she transitioned to heaven after having a time of prayer with her daughter on that faithful Friday the 29th of April 2022.
She is survived by her three biological children (a girl and 2 boys), adoptive and foster children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews, in-laws, cousins, other family members and friends. The gift Ma Flor has given those who knew her throughout her life on earth are enormous. The sadness of losing Ma Flor is great and seemingly unbearable but her legacy lives on.
