Tribute

Gale L. Taylor, of Canal Winchester, passed away July 3, 2021 at age 94. He was born September 19, 1926 in Ashville, Ohio. He graduated from Groveport Madison High School in 1945. He served in Korea in the Armed Forces. In 1947 Gale and his father, Harold, started Taylor and Sons Equipment Company in Canal Winchester. Their first building was in the old blacksmith shop at the corner of Waterloo and Trine. It is currently located at 630 W. Waterloo, CW. At almost 75 years it is currently the oldest continuously run family business in the city. Gale was a member of David’s United Church of Christ in CW for 64 years.
Gale is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Marcella (Conrad); daughter, Sharon Ann Taylor; father, Harold Taylor; mother, Alice (Hay) Taylor; and sister, Betty Jo (Taylor) Lathrop. He is survived by his brother, Robert Taylor, CA and sister, Ruth Barkley, CA; children, Linda Henry Boving (Kevin), Carroll, Marcena (Taylor) Reeves, Canal Winchester, Gregory (Cindy) Taylor, Columbus, Larry (Janine) Taylor, Gahanna, Gerald Taylor, Canal Winchester; grandchildren, Jason (Jaime) Taylor, Lindsay Rossi, Michaela (Carl) Hauenstein, Jessica Henry, Justin (Meridith) Taylor, Melissa (Todd) Pulham, Stephen (Whitney) Taylor, Katie (Thomas) Douglas, Jeremiah Taylor; 14 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Fun loving, quick witted and generous, Gale was the patriarch of the Taylor family. He was friend and confidant for his children, steadfast in his love for family and country, and his kindness to others was always his guiding principle. He will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 8 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 650 W. Waterloo St., Canal Winchester, where funeral service will be held 11 am Friday, July 9 with Chaplain Greg Rosser presiding.
