Herbert Gustave Poenisch

Herbert G. Poenisch, age 100, of Canal Winchester, Ohio went home to be with his Lord on September 17, 2023. Born January 19, 1923 in Columbus to the late Otto and Hazel (Dellenbach) Poenisch. He proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a lifelong member of Gender Road Christian Church, he loved his church and family. Herb retired as a Data Processing Supervisor for the government after 37+ years. He enjoyed playing softball, dominos and traveling to Florida for nearly 40 years.

In addition to his parents, Herb is greeted in heaven by his wife, Margaret “Peggy” Poenisch; and brothers, Richard and Paul Poenisch.

He leaves behind his four daughters, Beverly (Gary) Christy, Sheila Jamieson, Linda Cotton, Terri (David) Jones; grandchildren, Grant (Tara) Christy, Lauren (Adam) Belmont, Jamie Jamieson, Matt (Melanie) Arthur, Kelly (Eric) Flynn, Sarah (Aaron) Godlewski, and Ashley (Robin) Huston; 19 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Friends are welcome to visit Wednesday, September 20, 2023 from 10-11am at Gender Road Christian Church, 5336 Gender Rd, Canal Winchester, OH 43110. A funeral service will begin at 11am with Rev. John Romig officiating. Burial will be held Thursday, September 21, at 10AM at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Herb & Peggy Poenisch Memorial Fund through Gender Road Christian Church. Arrangements by DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, Canal Winchester.
