James Edward Ellis

James Edward Ellis, age 62, of Lockville, passed away Sunday, May 14, 2023 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital after a long illness. Born November 7, 1960 in Columbus to the late Mary Lou (Baker) (Ellis) Brewer and Jon F. Ellis. He was a 1979 graduate of Bloom Carroll High School and was a former employee of O’Neil Tent and Awning, Dobbs International, the Aztec Bar, and H&W Trucking, and was an independent semi-truck operator.
Jim is survived by his sister, Dempsey Jo Brewer; uncle, Kimbert Thomas; step-sister, Shari Myers; cousins, Ed Thomas, Ron Thomas, Dwayne Ellis; and other extended family and friends.
Friends may visit 11 am to 1 pm Friday, May 19 at the Dwayne R. Spence Funeral Home, 650 W. Waterloo St., Canal Winchester, where funeral service will follow at 1 with the Rev. Ralph & Barb Short officiating. Interment after at Betzer Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org), or the children’s charity of their choice.
