James “Jim” Douglas Freshley, age 80, of Lancaster, died August 10, 2017 at Zusman Hospice in Columbus. He was born November 20, 1936 in Homeworth, Ohio to the late Atlee and Violet (Wyss) Freshley. Jim was a United States Army Veteran who served in the occupation of Germany after WWII and had an appointment to West Point. He attended The Ohio State University, was an avid Buckeye fan and was a longtime member of Ralf R. Rickly Masonic Lodge.
Preceded in death by his brother, John Freshley; Jim is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Anita Freshley; daughter, Elizabeth (Stephen) Coy; grandson, Owen Coy; uncle, Dwight; siblings, Eleanor, Elaine, Joe, Jan; brother-in-law, Earl; many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Bloom Presbyterian Church, 75 E South St, Lithopolis, OH 43136 with Pastor Cathy Hill officiating. Those who wish may contribute to the church in Jim’s memory.
