James Richard "Rick" West

James Richard “Rick” West, age 71, of Canal Winchester, died December 6, 2019 at his home. He was born December 11, 1947 in Jackson, Ohio. He was an Army Vietnam Veteran serving from 1967-1969. He lived in California and Washington before returning to Ohio to be closer to family. He chose to make his home in Canal Winchester where he met and married his wife, Rhonda. He owned his own trucking company, J. West Trucking and drove around the country until he retired in 2009.

Rick is preceded in death by his mother, Lora Imogene West grandparents, Brack and Carrie Skaggs; and uncle, Bill West; he is survived by his loving wife, Rhonda; father, James “Frank” West; children, Rich West, Jamie West and Justin (Amanda) West, Lee (Nikki) Etterling, Chad Etterling, and Katlyn (Tori) Rinehart; grandchildren, Nikki, Noni, Teighlor, Jordan, Jaylynn, Journie, Hannah, Allen, J.R., Jerrod, Gunnar, Addison, Haylee, and Raelynn; great-grandchildren, Reign, Addalyn, Taylor and Jasmine; sisters, Janet (Orland) Childers and Winona (Brian) Byorth; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit 6-8 p.m. Friday at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 650 W. Waterloo Street, Canal Winchester, Ohio 43110 where a funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Interment to follow at Union Grove Cemetery.
