Joann Gloeckner

January 11, 1946 ~ September 1, 2020 (age 74) 74 Years Old

Tribute

Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure. She is loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure. Jody (Joann) Gloeckner, aka Nana peacefully passed away on Tuesday, September 1st 2020. She was surrounded by her five adoring children and loving husband of almost 50 years.

Jody was born on January 11, 1946 in Athens, Ohio and raised by her parents Carl Donald and Helen Marie (Compton) Jewell. She grew up with her brother Sonny and five sisters, Paula Sue, Lynn, Carol, Glenna, and Cindy. She is preceded in death by her sister Carol. Jody is survived by the love of her life and husband Mike and five children: Jason (Jeannie), Jamie (Kevin), Jenny (Jason), Jessica (Ramon) and Jan. She was a beloved Nana to her eight grandchildren: Robbie, Nick (Becca), McKenzie (Sidney), Jordan, Ashley, Brooke, Enrique and Isabel. Her great-grandchild, Elijah was even lucky enough to experience her everlasting love during his brief, yet cherished time with her.

She was the most selfless, kindest, patient, humble and amazing person you could ever know. If you had the pleasure of meeting her, consider yourself blessed to have been graced by her loving presence. She gave everything in her to serve others, even when it took away from herself. The amount of pure love that radiated from such a tiny little body was unheard of and no matter who you were, she always made you feel loved and like part of the family. No matter who you are, if she met you…you were getting a big hug, whether you want one or not!

Jody had many passions. She was a dedicated member of her Pickerington community and the proud team Mom for all her kids’ sports. She found great pleasure in making women feel beautiful as a Mary Kay consultant. She also loved horses, playing bingo with her sisters, dancing, planting and taking care of her flowers, teaching Sunday school with husband Mike, compassionately caring for others, and most importantly; spending quality time with her family and making lasting memories with her children and grandchildren. She was truly an angel here on earth and has now received her wings.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at The Gate Church (6389 Blacklick-Eastern Rd. NW, Pickerington, OH 43147) on Saturday, September 12th at 12:00 pm. There will be snacks and refreshments afterwards in the outdoor shelter house behind the church. Please try to refrain from wearing black. Jody would want nothing more than seeing everyone in bright and cheerful colors!
