Tribute

John Anderson Johnson, age 76, passed away on June 17, 2021. He was a veteran of Vietnam and was in the U.S. Naval Drum & Bugle Corps. He served as a Corpsman from 1965-1969. Prior to serving in the U.S. Navy and after high school, he worked in the IBM department at Grant Hospital. He married the woman of his dreams in 1969 and settled in Reynoldsburg where they had two sons.
John opened his own business in 1982, an antiques and furniture restoration business, where he was featured in Columbus Monthly. He also served as an Elder and Deacon in his church. John was President of the Grace Christian School Board, on the Board of Columbus Koinonia, and served as a Disaster Team Leader for the Red Cross. John played percussion for the East Side Grace Brethren Church for 25 years. He participated in the Praise Band, Men’s Ministry, Habitat for Humanity and other mission projects in several states and Canada.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janice (Bandy) Johnson; sons, Jody of Reynoldsburg and Jeremy (Tara) of Dublin, OH; granddaughters, Emma, Zoe, Quinn and Hazel; sister, Dixie Carpenter and numerous nieces and nephews. John is preceded in death by his parents, William M. Johnson Sr. and Gayle (Figgins) Johnson, William M. Johnson Jr., Robert C. Johnson, and Gerald Johnson.
Friends and family may call from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, June 25, 2021 at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 550 Hill Rd. North, Pickerington, OH. The funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. at East Side Grace Brethren Church, 7510 E Broad St, Blacklick, OH with Pastor Chip Heim officiating. Burial will follow in Silent Home Cemetery, 1576 Lancaster Ave, Reynoldsburg, OH.
