John Michael “Moose” Mulligan, age 73, passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2021. Born in Columbus, Ohio, Mike graduated from Walnut Ridge High School and Franklin University. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany and South Korea. After leaving the military, he returned to his job at AT&T, and retired from Lucent Technologies. Mike loved to snow ski, and served as President of the Columbus Ski Club. He was an avid golfer, and after his retirement he worked part-time at the domed Four Seasons Golf Center in Whitehall until it closed in 2017. He was a passionate fan of the OSU Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Bengals.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents John and Eileen Mulligan. He’s survived by sisters, Janet (Bill) Walters and Terri Walters; nieces, Andrea Farley and Rindi Walters; and nephew, Kyle Walters. The family would like to say a special thanks to his dear friends, Kathy and Phil Gordon, for their support during Mike’s illness the last 15 months. Per his wishes, a formal funeral service will not be held. Instead, his family will escort his remains to Snowmass, Colorado to fulfill his request to have his ashes scattered on one of his favorite ski slopes where he made many of his best memories.
