Karen Badger, 70, of Westerville, OH, went home to Jesus on Sunday, October 22, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer for nearly five years. She was surrounded by her loved ones in the comfort of her home when she passed away. She was born in Gulfport, MS, to the late Arthur and Lorraine Frair. Karen touched the lives of many children and families as a teacher and the director of Faith Educare at Faith United Methodist Church, Canal Winchester, for more than 25 years.

Family was very important to Karen. If you were a friend of hers, you were considered family. She, along with her husband, Steve, enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Her favorite past-times included traveling with family and friends, and cheering on her grandchildren at countless events. Karen was very strong in her faith and was actively involved in her church throughout her thirty-three years as a member of Asbury United Methodist Church South, serving in many different capacities, including teen youth group leader, choir member, and member of various committees.

In addition to her parents, Karen is preceded in death by her brother, Stanley Frair. Left to celebrate her life are her loving husband of 48 years, Steve Badger; son, Keith (Deanna) Badger; daughter, Suzanne (Rich) Palmer; grandsons, Seth Badger, Sean Badger, George Palmer, and Malcolm “Max” Palmer; sisters, Joyce (Bill) Gregg, Melinda Coyle; brothers, Ray (Carolyn) Frair, Ralph (Ruth) Frair, and Paul (Jeri) Frair; sister-in-law, Peggy Bales; brother-in-law, Ed (Teresa) Badger; children of the heart, Tim and Susan Hatem; granddaughters of the heart, Jessica, Marissa, and Tabitha Hatem; and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the great team of doctors, nurses, and staff at The Ohio State University James Hospital and Ohio Health Hospice for all of the care, support, and comfort shown throughout her cancer journey.

Family will receive friends from 9 AM to 11AM on Saturday, October 28, 2017, at Asbury United Methodist Church South, 4760 Winchester Pike, Columbus, OH 43232. A service will follow visitation at 11 AM to celebrate Karen’s life.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to The Ohio State University James Hospital Fund for Life, Asbury United Methodist Church South, or the charity of your choice.
