Kay D. Nicholson, age 86, of Canal Winchester, OH passed away March 7, 2023. She was born March 5, 1937 in Rocky River, OH. She lived most of her life in northern Ohio and lived for a period of time Grand Blanc, Michigan. Kay moved to Canal Winchester, Ohio 6 years ago to be closer to family. She worked for General Motors and affiliates her entire career as a secretary and administrative assistant. Upon retiring, Kay worked as the secretary for Vermilion Evangelical and Reformed Church, where she was a member for several years. When she was younger, Kay enjoyed roller skating and snow skiing. Inspired by the roller rink organ music, Kay bought and learned to play her own organ. She was known for her great sense of humor and it afforded her many friends. Kay loved cats and shared her home with at least one cat most of her life. She had a creative side and enjoyed painting ceramics, knitting and crocheting. Kay’s friends and family will miss her but they find comfort in knowing that her body finally allowed what her soul longed for…the peace of Christ.
Preceded in death by parents, Nelson J. and Georgianna A. (Ryan) Nicholson; stepmother, Agnes Nicholson; siblings, Jean (Dougal) McEchern, Robert (Evelyn) Nicholson, Shirley (Bud) Brown, Richard (Shanna) Nicholson, Lois (James) Davidson, Thomas (Mary) Nicholson, James Nicholson, Ann (Harry) Harmon and Donald (Marge Haputa) Nicholson. Survived by nieces and nephews and their families.
Family and friends may visit 10:30-11:30am on Thursday, March 16, at Gender Road Christian Church, 5336 Gender Rd, Canal Winchester, OH 43110 with a memorial service to follow at 11:30am. Service, followed by scattering of ashes in GRCC’s Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gender Road Christian Church.
