Leon “Lonnie” Hale, age 76, of Canal Winchester, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, June 9, 2017. He was born October 10, 1940 in Swords Creek, VA to the late Sherman and Nellie Hale.
Leon was a member of Lithopolis United Methodist Church. He served our country as a member of the Army Corps of Engineers. Leon worked over 30 years at COPCO Paper Company, before retiring from the Canal Winchester School District. He was a Red Cross blood donor and a member of the Canal Winchester Senior Center. Leon enjoyed wood-working and home remodeling. His passion was his family; Leon was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Roseann Hale; granddaughter, Rosemary Heather Hale; sister, Eileen Lanham. Leon is survived by his three daughters, Lisa (Michael) Smith, Sherri (Jay) Alspach, Chris (Brian) Landfried; 10 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; siblings, Johnny Hale, Judy Armentrout, Sharon Kaye Sprouse, Tammy Cruse; and many dear and close friends.
Family and friends may visit 4-7:00 pm on Tuesday at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 650 W. Waterloo St., Canal Winchester, OH 43110. A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Charles Martindell, will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday at Lithopolis United Methodist Church, 80 N. Market, St., Lithopolis, OH 43136. Interment Franklin Hills Memory Gardens.
