Lowell D. Calhoun “Dewey”, age 86, of Salem, OH passed away on February 11, 2021. He was born on April 9, 1934 to the late Ralph and Freda (Wakeley) Calhoun. Dewey proudly served in the United States Navy and was a Fire Control Technician on the U.S.S. Carpellotti (APD-136). After his career in the Navy, Dewey worked for General Motors as a United Auto Worker for 27 years. He was a highly regarded commander of the Royal Rangers from 1970 to 2010 and attended Real Life Assembly of God. Dewey was an avid softball player, loved camping, and he faithfully attended and supported the Canton McKinley High school football team; GO BULLDOGS! Dewey had many hobbies but what he enjoyed most was spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy Grace Calhoun; son, Andrew Calhoun; grandson, Levi Hendrickson; and siblings Arnold Calhoun and Mary Santora.
He is survived by his wife, Pearl Calhoun; daughters, Marilyn (Clint) Ingledue, Lisha (Ernie) Blue, Freda Scott; son, Dewey (Faith) Calhoun II; daughter-in-law, Sue Ellen Calhoun; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and brother Ralph (Jean) Calhoun of Canton, OH.
