October 29, 1934 ~ January 6, 2022 (age 87)

Tribute

Mary C. Boso (Van Horn), loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend passed away peacefully in her home at the age of 87.  Mary was born at home, October 29, 1934 on Spencer Ridge outside Corning, Ohio to the late Addison Van Horn and Ada (Latta) Van Horn.  
Mary is survived by sons, Mark Boso and Jimmy (Diane) Boso; grandchildren, Logan Boso, Landon Boso, Amie (Luke) Horn, Nick (Ashley) Boso, Christine (Austin) Loy and Kyle (Meyling) Decot; great-grandchildren, Noah, Gracie and Ace Horn, Clyde Boso and Hayden Loy. Surviving siblings include Helen Swank, Delores Eing, Sally (Ned) Gohring, Reverend Arnold “Junior” Van Horn and Reynold “Jerry” (Pat) Van Horn; sister-in-law, Jean Boso; sister-in-law, Loretta (Larry) Anderson; brother-in-law, Carl (Barb) Boso and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary is preceded in death by her husband Jim Boso; son, Dave Boso and daughter Beth Decot; brother, Ray Van Horn, sister & brother in law, Jean (Bob) Coey, brother-in-law, Gilbert Eing; sister-in-law, Sue Van Horn, Don Boso, Gene Boso, Charlie (Margie) Boso, Bob Boso, Arlene Ries, Rosan Boso, Jack (Jan) Boso, Ralph (Jean) Boso, and sister-in-law, Dorothy-Carol Boso.
Mary was affectionally known for her giving and selflessness. Family always came first. She took pride with her award winning needlework, crocheting, and knitting-donating numerous baby blankets, winter hats and headbands. Many babies have been blessed with their first blanket from her. Countless students remember her as the cook at Bloom-Carroll high school and she developed a close friendship with many students and coworkers. Quite a few sports programs benefited from her generosity. OSU buckeye football was her favorite sport. She was well known for her cooking and infamous chicken & noodles and cabbage rolls. 
Lovingly missed by family and friends; until we meet again.
Funeral services will be held at DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 650 W. Waterloo St. Canal Winchester, Sunday, January 16, 2022.Visitation will be from 2pm-4pm with a service to follow.
