Mary Brewer, age 79, of Lancaster, Ohio passed away surrounded by her loving family November 16, 2020. Born January 19, 1941 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Neil and Alice Hummel. At 16 years old Mary met her deepest love, Nathan Brewer and in 1958 they started their love story. She had the greatest love, devotion and loyalty to him, their marriage, and their family. Mary loved Nathan profoundly and took pride in being a loving and caring wife throughout the years.
Mary was an avid animal lover, everyone knew her as the local “veterinarian” that you went too before going to the actual vet. Mary had many woodland animals that were saved by her compassion and love. She was the owner and operator of Knotty Pine Dobes, where she was a show dog handler and trainer, her beloved Doberman Pinschers, Shannon, Shasta, Digger, Murphy, Chiffon, and Whispers meant the world to her and she loved them dearly.
In addition to her parents Mary is preceded in death by her brothers, Ted, Jim and Charles Hummel. Mary is survived her husband Nathan; children, Cindy Brewer, Kelly (Richard) Bradbury, and Robin (Sam Hackler) Riesenbeck; grandchildren, Kevin (Alisha) Rhodes, Nicci Fox, Joshua (Chrissy) Rhodes, Dustin (Erin) Bradbury, Austin (Carla) Bradbury, Kamron (Hannah Darfus) Bradbury; great-grandchildren, Austin, Jordan, Nathan, Logan, and Kristen; brother, Randolf Hummel; and many nieces, nephews, and close family friends.
Arrangements by DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME. A graveside service will be held Friday, November 20, at 2pm at Wesley Chapel Cemetery officiated by Dick Newberry. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Fair Hope Hospice. Mary was a strong, caring and loving woman who will be greatly missed. A special thanks to Sarah and Holly for caring for Mary and showing her the love and compassion she showed others.
