Mary Ellen Elizabeth Quinn

February 16, 1955 ~ February 21, 2024 (age 69) 69 Years Old

Mary Ellen Markey Quinn, 69, passed away on February 21, 2024 at the OSU Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio after a devastating cancer diagnosis in January 2024. Born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, to Edward and Patricia Markey, Mary Ellen was raised in Scotch Plains, New Jersey with her 8 brothers and sisters in the home their father built.
She graduated from Union Catholic High School in 1973 and over the next few years worked at Federated Incorporated and Potamkin Chevrolet until she moved out West to Colorado in the summer of 1980. She continued her career as a title clerk at Kerr Ford until she married and moved to Ohio. Her family eventually settled in Buffalo, Minnesota where she raised her four young children.
In 1998 Mary Ellen returned to Ohio where she remarried and worked at Ricart Automotive for 23 years until her retirement in 2022. As her mother became ill, she moved to New Jersey to become her caregiver until her mother’s death in August of 2023.
Mary Ellen loved spending time at the Jersey Shore. Avon by the Sea was her “happy place” where she enjoyed long talks on the porch with Mom-Mom, watching the sun rise as the charter boats headed out to sea, fish tacos and clams at Kleins, sunny beach days and connecting with friends and family, especially her nieces and nephews.
Mary Ellen is survived by her four children, Thomas Guidera, Matthew Guidera, Erin Guidera Groves and Colleen Guidera; her sisters and brothers, Patricia Middleton (Randy, dec.), Cynthia Miller (Bruce), Maureen Sewell (Mark), Edward J. Markey lll, Colleen Pomerantz (Gary), Jeanne Marie Schroeder (Geoff), Eileen Cardenas (Arnie, dec.), Timothy Markey (Stephanie); and 41 nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Patricia Markey; and her infant Sister, Elizabeth Anne.
