Miriam “Mimi” Eileen Boyer, age 84, of Canal Winchester, entered her heavenly rest on July 8, 2018. Her parents Mary Marguerite Mason Boyer and Paul J. Boyer precede her in death, along with her brothers and sisters-in-law Warren and Florence Boyer; Louis and Marie Boyer, Gale and Lola Boyer, Glenn and Ella Boyer and great-niece Sarah Boyer.
Miriam was a professional singer and accomplished musician with a career that spanned national touring shows, working in Hollywood, choir directing and teaching voice and piano to many students. Miriam was also an executive administrative assistant, working for many years with professional pianist and organist Bob Ralston of the Lawrence Welk television show in California, and in Ohio with engineers at the American Electric Power company. Miriam attended the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston as a scholarship student, and won top awards in singing during her studies for her Bachelor’s and Master’s of Music degrees.
Miriam’s abundant life took her from a farm girl in Pickerington to music and voice instruction in New York City, Boston and Los Angeles. She toured with national theater companies including playing the role of “Mama Rose” in a production of “Gypsy.” She could play the piano, organ, ukulele, and the accordion and shared her beautiful voice and classical training with audiences, family, friends, choir members and students. Miriam’s artistic talents also included painting, and there are many beautiful oil paintings to her credit. Miriam was a loving and attentive caregiver to her mother, brothers and sisters-in-law during their later lives.
Miriam loved her family and friends and is survived by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews including Lorraine (Glen) Seitz; Larry (Liz) Boyer; Doug (Nita) Boyer; Carmen Boyer; Mike (Debbie) Boyer; Dan Boyer; Mark (Sheryl) Boyer; Janet Boyer; Ann Boyer; Jenny (Steve) Camper; David (Vickie) Boyer; Logan Boyer; Matt, Rhiannon and Wes Boyer; Andrew (Cheryl) Boyer; Chad Boyer; Cory Boyer; Ben Boyer; Reid Boyer.
Miriam was a loyal friend and made many memories with Janice and Mike Goodman, Roxanna Rice and Bill and Patty Spires among others. Special thanks go to Janice, Dan, Janet and Carmen for their extra loving care in recent months and to the wonderful staff at Tuscany Gardens nursing care center.
Family and friends may visit Noon-2:00 pm on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 650 W. Waterloo St., Canal Winchester, OH 43110, where a funeral service, officiated by Pastor David Long-Higgins, will follow at 2:00 pm. Interment, Lithopolis Cemetery.
