Noel D. Heister, age 83, of Canal Winchester, Ohio passed away peacefully on September 22, 2022 at his home with his wife, Sandra Kay by his side. Born September 4, 1939 in Grant Hospital in Columbus, Ohio to the late Dwight and Frances (Crist) Heister. He was a graduate of Canal Winchester High School class of 1957, where he earned athletic letters for football and basketball.
Noel led an interesting and full life. He grew up working and playing on his family’s farm. He then achieved his dream of owning and running his own farm, working hard to provide for his family and eventually retiring. Noel had several other trades including teaching and selling machinery for Ford and Allis Chalmers. He drove for Greyhound bus lines many years then drove the school bus after retiring. He then had the time of his life with his truck and Montana Camper that he and Sandra traveled in for 19 years to Largo, Florida where they made lifelong friends at Vacation Village. Being ill the last six years, Noel cherished his time he spent in Florida and recently came back home. He loved his son, Otto. He drove the Greyhound bus for all of his away basketball games, for the players’ parents. He was so proud of him.
Noel was a member of Hoy Memorial E.U.B Church for years, now a member of Lithopolis United Methodist Church. Noel just plain enjoyed life, especially his “mini” class reunions that were held at his home.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Kay; brother, Carl; in-laws, Gilmer “Bill” and Kathryne “Kate” Knotts; and aunt and uncle, Rosanna and Joe Hartman.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Sandra; his one and only son, Otto; brother, Mark (Jackie); baby sister, Mary; sister-in-law, Phyllis; nieces and nephews, Todd, Andrew, John, Tim, Sherry, Gehni, David, and Amanda; special “adopted” children, Lynn and Cathy; and numerous other loved ones and friends. Noel was loved by so many.
A visitation will be held Friday, September 30, from 10-11AM at Lithopolis United Methodist Church, 80 N Market St. Lithopolis, OH. with a memorial service to be held immediately after at 11AM. The family would like to express their deep gratitude for all your prayers and kindness during his enduring fight the past 6 years. He was a great man and enjoyed life.
