Tribute
Rev. Paul Edward Klopfer, 96, died peacefully surrounded by family at Violet Springs Health Campus, Pickerington OH on June 5, 2022. Born and raised in Terra Haute Indiana, he was a graduate of Wiley High School, Capital University and Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus Ohio. He served for 41 years in Ohio parishes in Fremont, Sugar Grove, Willoughby and Fort Recovery, and Salmonia Indiana. Proceeded in death by his parents, Rev. Frederick and Lillian Klopfer; brothers and their wives, Rev. Andrew and Mavis, Rev. Samuel and Ellen, Rev. Frederick and Doris and infant brother, David, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Genia and Freeman Kalb, nephew Don Kalb and niece Susan Kalb. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years Elizabeth (Inloes) Klopfer; daughters, Deborah Klopfer, Beth (Jan) Rice, Christine (Michael) Jacobs, Cindy (Dennis) Morehart, and grandchildren, Joshua Jacobs, Ashley (Alex) Horan-Jacobs and many nieces and nephews. Family extends heartfelt thanks to Violet Springs staff and Capital City Hospice for their loving care and support. Friends will be received Thursday, June 9, 2022 from 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 550 Hill Rd N Pickerington OH 43147. A funeral service officiated by Pastor Heinz Raidel will be held 11:00 am Friday, June 10, 2022 at Grace Lutheran Church, 8950 Refugee Rd Pickerington OH 43147 with visitation one hour prior. Burial will take place at Greenlawn Cemetery, 1000 Greenlawn Avenue, Columbus OH 43223. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Grace Lutheran Church or Capital University Athletic Department, 1 College and Main, Columbus, OH 43209-2394.
