Paul Ruff

It is with great sadness that the family of Paul E. Ruff, age 90 of Canal Winchester, OH and Port Charlotte, FL died peacefully on October 29, 2017, following a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Born and raised in Rushville, OH, the son of Carl and Evelyn Ruff, he was the first member of his family to attend college. He received both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in metallurgical engineering from the Ohio State University. He retired from both Rockwell International after 20 years and Battelle Memorial Institute after 22 years. He was a specialist in aerospace metallic materials and a lifetime member of the American Society of Metals. Paul was a lifetime member of David Lutheran Church, Canal Winchester, Ohio and served as past treasurer and past financial secretary. He has a passion for landscape architecture and horticulture and one of his greatest joys was working on his lawn and gardens. Their great beauty was a reflection of the love, time and effort he invested in them.

Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Pauline Motter Ruff; two sons, Dr. Michael Ruff (Dr. Victoria Ruff) of Upper Arlington, OH and Douglas Ruff of Canal Winchester, OH; brother, Phillip Ruff (Darlene) of Lancaster, OH; sister, Barbara (George) Mowery of Lancaster, OH; three grandchildren, Evan, Meredith and Ryan. Services will be private for the family. Arrangements by DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers a memorial may be made to David Lutheran Church or Hospice Care of Mount Carmel Hospital.
