Richard L. Petty Sr.

Richard L. Petty, Sr., age 97, of Reynoldsburg, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2022 at his daughter’s home in Galena. Born May 12, 1925 in Bexley to the late Earl M. & Edith C. (Stock) Petty. He was a 1943 graduate of Bexley High School, and served in the U.S. Army during WWII.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Arlene Shea Petty in 2013; son, Richard L. Petty, Jr.; and son-in-law, Frank Nemeth.
He is survived by children, Tom (Sue) Petty, Candy Nemeth, Mike (Susan) Petty, Scott (Meg) Petty; grandchildren, Chris (Heather), Shea (Lee), Ryan (Shauna), Annie, Bert, Megan (Ryan), Liza (Jamie), Bryn (Bryan), Patrick (Tara), Allison, Emily, Kelley (Keaton), Sara (Terry), and Kate; many great-grandchildren; and sister, Janet Kennedy.
Private services will be held for the family. Interment with military honors at Violet Cemetery.
