Rodney K. Wildermuth, age 80, of Canal Winchester, OH passed away November 28, 2017. He was born February 10, 1937 to the late Lester and Cleta Wildermuth in Canal Winchester, OH. The patriarch of a hard-working family, Rodney farmed the land his entire life. His love of the Lord and devotion to his family guided his life’s path and filled it with goodness. His passion was 58 years of dairy farming. The dairy herd Rodney and his wife Edith operated began winning production awards in 1975. In 1988, COBA/SELECT SIRES, INC. named their herd number one in the state of Ohio and eighth in the nation for milk production. He also enjoyed a lifelong activity of raising, exhibiting and judging Corriedale sheep. He served as president of the National Corriedale Sheep Assn. Rodney and Edith participated for years in a Franklin County Farm Bureau Council with other local farmers. In 2004, the farm was named a Century Family Farm by the state of Ohio. During an interview before the award presentation, Rodney was quoted saying “All I ever wanted to do was milk cows, show sheep and be farmers” That statement summed up his passion for agriculture as a way of life. There was no prouder grandfather than Rodney. He was his grandkid’s biggest fan when they competed in their school sports and 4-H livestock shows. He was especially proud when animals born on the family farm won top awards both locally and nationally. Rodney loved people and enjoyed talking with any visitor that would come to the farm. His warm smile, charming personality and goofy jokes will be missed by all.

Preceded in death by his wife, Edith Wildermuth and brother, Earl Wildermuth. Survivors include three children, Annetta (Bob) Zeman, Jerry (Gina) Wildermuth and Susan Wildermuth; three grandchildren, Scott (Sydny) Wildermuth, Jodi (Morgan) Pavol and Christy Wildermuth; great grandchild, Paislee Pavol; and two sisters, Evelyn Arledge and Barbara Bowman.
