TSGT, Ronald L Wheeler “The Waste” passed away on January, 6, 2022 after a long battle with mantle cell lymphoma and CAA, surrounded by his family and close friends. He was a loving soldier, husband, father, papaw, mailman, and coach. He served 21 years in the US Air Force and was a Vietnam and Gulf War veteran. After he retired, he went on to be a mail carrier at the Pickerington and Pataskala post offices for 26 years. He is preceded in death by his son, Ryan Wheeler, his parents, Robert and Sylvia Wheeler and close poker buddy, Paul Wells. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Treva (Clark) Wheeler. His children, Ronnie (Jenny) Wheeler II, Tiff (David) Roberts, Tami (John) Reeves, and Tonya (Tyler) Miller and the highlight of his world were his grandchildren; Caleb, Cameryn, Caitlyn, Casey Wheeler, John Jr and Lilly Reeves, Chloe and Dixie Roberts, McKenna, Macie and McCoy Miller; and bonus son, Kevin Martin. Also survived by his sister and brother in law, Rhonda and Bob Wilson; and nephews Jason and Justin Wilson and multiple family members in New York. He is loved by many close friends, co-workers, poker buddies and a very special VA care giver, Linda Heil. He was an avid poker player and anyone was welcome at the table. If you didn’t know the game, don’t worry he would teach you and honestly he made up his own games and rules. He loved to go bowling, aggravate anyone around him and enjoyed nothing more than watching his grandchildren play ball. Family and friends may visit 5-8:00pm on Monday, January 10, at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 550 Hill Rd. N. Pickerington, OH 43147. A funeral service will begin at 12:00pm on Tuesday, January 11, at the funeral home. Entombment at Lithopolis Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Bloom Carroll Athletic Boosters, Attn. Athletic Department 5240 Plum Rd. NW Carroll, OH 43112 or Watkins Memorial Boosters at www.wmaaboosters.com, as he was a huge fan and supporter to both programs.
