Rose Anne (Winland) Bates, 86, of Canal Winchester, passed away on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Canal Winchester Rehab and Assisted Living after a long battle with Alzheimer ’s disease. Born on December 6, 1931 to the late Joseph and Arabelle (Stimpert) Winland, Rose was a 1949 graduate of Stafford High School in Monroe County. She was an active member of Rager Road Church of Christ. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Harry Richard Bates; children, Ruth Anne (Stan) Leonard of Kingsport, TN, Steve (Jeanette) Bates of Duluth, GA, Karen (Randy) Hinton of Canal Winchester, and Philip (Kathy) Bates of New Bern, NC; 19 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild; brothers, Max (Janet) Winland, Danny (Connie) Winland, and Joe (Barb) Winland; sisters-in-law, Ilene Hinkle and Leila Bates; and many nieces and nephews. Rose was preceded in death by her siblings, Paul (Ruth) Winland, Ruth (Albert) Bates, and Robert (Rita) Winland. Friends may visit from 3-6 p.m. on Sunday, September 9th at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 650 W. Waterloo St., Canal Winchester, OH 43110. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 10th at Rager Road Church of Christ, 5775 Rager Rd., Canal Winchester, OH 43110, with an hour of visitation prior to the service.
