Roy Raymond Post Evans, age 74, passed away Wednesday February 6, 2019 at his residence in Pickerington Ohio with his loving wife of 26 years, Kathleen Evans, at his side. Roy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all he met. He was born December 29th, 1944 in Columbus OH to the late Warren R. Post and Miriam (Gregg) Post Evans.
SSGT Warren R. Post, US Army 391st Infantry Regiment, 75th Infantry Division, died serving his country during WWII on February 1st, 1945. Miriam later married Raymond M. Evans, who adopted Roy and raised him as his own. Roy was a 1962 graduate of Upper Arlington High School. In high school he delivered newspapers and worked for Big Bear grocery store in Grandview. Roy was a proud US Marine. His basic training was at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina and he served in the 3rd Battalion, 25th Marines Lima Company in Columbus.
His distinguished and lengthy career in Consumer Finance began in 1965 with Economy Savings & Loan in Springfield Ohio. As a Bank Officer and Vice President of Greenville National Bank, Roy was very active with Lions Club of Greenville, Elks Lodge #1139, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #2177, Loyal Order of Moose, Greenville Board of Education and Greenville HS Athletic Boosters. Roy was also a founding member of two Real Estate Title Companies in Greenville and Dayton. For the past 26 years Roy was most happy when he was with his best friend and the love of his life, his wife Kathleen. Her devotion and love for Roy was the energy that kept him going.
Roy is survived by his wife Kathleen; his children, Mark (Celeste) Evans, Michael (Diane) Evans, Robert (Angela) Evans and Annie M. Schamaun; his stepsons Larry (Diane) Wolfe and Ryan Wolfe; his grandchildren, Parker, Ashlee, Connor, Rosalyn, Emily, McKenzey, Chelsea, Casey, Jessika and Crystal; Mother of his sons, Bonne Wright; Mother of his daughter, Victoria Kramer. He is also survived by his siblings, Larry (Joy) Evans and Timothy (Patricia) Evans. He was preceded in death by his fathers, Warren and Raymond, his mother Miriam and his beloved mother-in-law Gertie Burnett.
Friends may visit from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Monday, February 11th at the Dwayne R. Spence Funeral Home, 550 Hill Rd. N., Pickerington, OH, 43147, where a funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Interment at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please help someone in need. Semper Fi.
