On Friday, May 22, 2020, Shelly Marie (Petzo) Stayrook, loving mother of three, wife, Mimi, daughter, sister and friend passed away at the age of 49.
Shelly was born February 6, 1971 in Columbus, Ohio to Debra and Alan Petzo and became a sister in 1973 to Kerrie Petzo.
Shelly received her undergraduate degree at the University of Alabama, and then went on to earn her master’s in social work at Indiana University. She went on to practice social work in its many forms for most of her career.
On June 11, 2005, Shelly married the love of her life, Robert, and gained a daughter, Ashlen Christine. They went on to grow their family in 2006 with the birth of their daughter Delaney Rose and then son Colin Robert in 2008. Shelly became a Mimi (grandmother) in 2016 to William “Liam” Scott.
Shelly was passionate about her field of work, devoting herself to helping others in their times of need. She was witty and kind, often spreading smiles and joy with her contagious laughter. Full of humor and compassion, she was a bright spot in many of the lives she touched. She could often be found learning the latest trends in the make-up world or baking up some delicious treats for her family.
Her children love her beyond measure and will miss all the small day to day moments with their mother.
She is survived by a very large extended family and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
