Susan Loy

Susan Louise Sinclair Loy, age 84 of Lancaster, passed away on Monday, March 15, 2021 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s and Lewy body dementia. She was born August 5, 1936 in Silver Springs, Maryland. Susan attended The Ohio State University where she received a BS in Education and an MS from the University of Dayton. She was an English teacher for 40 years and retired from the Bloom Carroll School District in 2006. One of her greatest joys in life was teaching, and she took great pride in her profession to grow and develop every student she taught. 

Sue adored and took pride in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her greatest pleasures stemmed from spending time with family and friends whether it was traveling across the world, playing euchre with her lifelong friends, and attending luncheons with her BC teacher retirees and the Red Hats group. Her lifelong passions included gardening and reading.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Loy and her parents, Theodore and Cassandra Sinclair. Susan is survived by her two daughters, Nancy Loy-Jackson (Steve) and Debra Canini (Jerry), four grandchildren, Kyle Jackson, Kaitlyn Mastenbrook(Josh), Briana Canini Hart (Ryan) and Vince Canini, two great grandchildren, Ariana and Giana Hart, Susan’s sister, Nancy McClunin (Charles) and a number of other loving relatives and close friends.  

The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her last days. The family will have a private graveside service at Forest Rose Cemetery in Lancaster, Ohio. She would have wanted your donations to help put an end to this devastating disease that robbed her of lasting memories with family and friends.
