Thomas “Tom” Leonard Wehrle, 85, of Hamilton, Ohio, passed away July 15. He and his wife Martha celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past November.
Tom was born March 16, 1936, in Elgin, Illinois, to Leonard and Dorothy Wehrle. He graduated from Elgin Senior High School in 1954. He went on to attend Marquette University in Wisconsin and receive a bachelor’s of science degree in business administration in 1958. Tom was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in February 1964 and was a senior member of the Institute of Industrial Engineers.
Tom spent an extensive career as an executive in the paper production industry, working for the Crown Zellerbach Corp., Fort Howard Paper Co. and retiring in 2001 from International Paper Co. in Cincinnati.
He married Martha Lee Speaks on November 19, 1960, in Lancaster, Ohio. The two have resided in Hamilton for the past 26 years and are members of the St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Wehrle. He is survived by three other children: Susan Wehrle of Bloomsburg, PA; David (Kelli) Wehrle of Groveport, OH; and Kathleen DeWald of Gainesville, FL. Tom is also survived by four grandchildren: Kelsey Wehrle, Keaton “Max” Wehrle, Elizabeth Boyles and Phillip DeWald as well as many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family may visit Monday, July 19, 2021 from 11 to 12pm at DWAYNE R SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 550 Hill Rd N Pickerington Ohio, 43147 a funeral service will follow at 12pm. Interment to Forest Rose Cemetery, Lancaster, Ohio.
