Tribute

Valerie Louise Jackson (Swain) of Canal Winchester, OH, departed this earthly life at Mt. Carmel East on November 26, 2023.? She was born in Akron, OH on October 6, 1972 to the late Dianne Swain Giles. Valerie gave her life to Christ at an early age as she was an active youth member participating in the youth choir, Sunday school and the junior usher board. Valerie graduated from North High School before studying at Kent State University. She transferred to The Ohio State University in 1994.
In 2007, Valerie was introduced to the love of her life, Ronald Jackson. He considered Val his rock and biggest supporter. Ronald married his queen on September 20, 2008. The fun-loving couple will always be remembered for their ongoing banter over being diehard fans of their favorite, yet opposing college teams, Val (O-H-I-O) vs. Ron (Go Blue).

You could not have asked for a better wife, mother, sister, or friend. Valerie will be dearly missed?every day. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. She would light up whenever she spoke of her family. She’s described as an artistic and creative spirit. She was a visionary with an imagination that was boundless. Val was also known for her laid back, sweet and caring demeanor. She was trustworthy, reliable and dependable. Val enjoyed the casino, traveling, trying new restaurants (as picky of an eater as she was), and the theater. “Auntie Val”, as she was affectionately called by all of the young ones in her life, would attend as many of their events as she could. If you knew Val, you surely witnessed or had been a party to her witty and sassy commentary. Her infamous facial expressions were hilarious, mainly because though she may not have said a word, you knew exactly what she was “really” thinking!

Valerie was preceded in death by her son, Jeremiah Jackson; mother, Dianne Swain Giles and stepfather, Milton Giles.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her husband, Ronald Jackson; sons, Mecca Swain and Tristan Jackson; sister, Anjanette (Johnny) Swain; brother, Lawrence Swain Sr.; aunt, Linda Swain of Akron, OH; honorary sisters, Felicia (Markcus) Wade of Loganville, GA and Cheri Swain of Akron, OH; honorary brother, Anthony Swain of Akron, OH. special friends, Monica Shahid (Charles) of Gahanna, OH; Tamika Granberry (Detrick) of Midlothian,TX; Kiva McCrady (Terry) of Canal Winchester, OH; Banita Findley of Reynoldsburg, OH; and a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren, relatives and friends.
