Verlie Leota Rich (Tripp), age 97, of Canal Winchester, passed from her earthly home to her heavenly home on February 6, 2019. She was born January 14, 1922 in Jackson County, Ohio to the late Roscoe and Alice Tripp. She graduated from Washington Rural High School in 1940 and Bliss College in Columbus, Ohio, October in 1941. Verlie was an active member of Summit United Methodist Church and was a volunteer for many years loving, sharing and teaching young children at Summit’s preschool. She enjoyed singing in the church choir, as well as traveling with Willard, her husband, touring forty-seven of the fifty states.
Preceded in death by her husband, Willard; granddaughter, Tricia Rich; four sisters, Edith, Velma, Grace, Jane; and her brother, Willard; Verlie is survived by her son, Ken (Carol) Rich; granddaughter, Leslie Rich; grandson, Kevin (Courtney) Rich; great-granddaughters, Everlie and Karlyn Rich; sister-in-law, Rebecca Oliphant; nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will take place at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 18 at the Lithopolis Cemetery with Pastor Leslie Fox officiating. Those who wish may donate to Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Columbus, Ohio or Capital City Hospice, Columbus, Ohio in Verlie’s memory.
